Sedation & Anxious Patients
Sedation Dentistry: Relax, You’re in Safe Hands
For many individuals, a visit to the dentist can bring up feelings of anxiety, apprehension, or unease. If you experience these feelings, please know that it is a common concern shared by many patients.
At [Insert Practice Name], we understand these challenges and are dedicated to providing a supportive, patient-focused environment. To help you access the dental care you need, we offer evidence-based Sedation Dentistry options tailored to your individual clinical needs and anxiety levels.
Understanding Dental Anxiety
Dental anxiety can stem from various factors, including previous negative clinical experiences, a sensitive gag reflex, or difficulty with the sounds and clinical sensations of dental treatment.
Our team takes the time to discuss your concerns before any clinical procedure begins. We encourage open communication, allowing us to proceed at a pace that aligns with your individual needs.
Our Comfort & Sedation Options
Depending on your level of anxiety and the type of procedure, we offer different tiers of sedation to help you feel at ease.
Happy gas
Happy gas, or nitrous oxide, is a safe and effective way to help children relax during dental procedures. This allows children to be able to complete their fillings without local anaesthetic most of the time. At Corner 32 Dental, our team is experienced in working with children, and we always strive to make their experience as positive as possible. Nitrous oxide is a colourless, odourless gas that is inhaled through a small mask.
It helps to reduce anxiety and pain, and it also has a calming effect. The gas takes effect within minutes, and its effects wear off quickly once the procedure is over. Best of all, nitrous oxide is completely safe for both short- and long-term use. If you’re looking for a dental office that puts your child’s needs first, look no further than Corner 32 Dental.
IV Sedation (Sleep Dentistry)
Understanding IV Sedation (Intravenous Sedation)
Intravenous (IV) sedation, often referred to as twilight sedation or conscious sedation, is a highly effective method used to manage moderate to severe dental anxiety, complex surgical procedures, or pronounced gag reflexes.
Unlike general anaesthesia, IV sedation does not put you to sleep. Instead, it places you in a state of deep physical and mental relaxation while you remain conscious.
How It Works clinically
The sedative medication is administered directly into a vein, usually on the back of your hand or inside your elbow, using a very thin plastic tube called a cannula.
Because the medication goes straight into the bloodstream, it takes effect almost instantly. Our clinical team can precisely titrate (adjust) the dosage throughout the procedure to ensure you remain at an optimal level of relaxation.
