The benefits of cosmetic dentistry in Sydney
When most people think of cosmetic dentistry, they think of procedures like teeth whitening or veneers. While these procedures can certainly improve the appearance of your smile, they are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the benefits of cosmetic dentistry. For example, did you know that cosmetic dentistry can also help correct your bite problems?
If your teeth are misaligned, it can cause a number of problems, including pain when you chew and difficulty cleaning your teeth properly. By correcting the alignment of your teeth, cosmetic dentistry can help you avoid these problems and keep your mouth healthy. In addition, cosmetic dentistry can also be used to repair damage to your teeth caused by injury or disease.
Whether you need a crown to cover a cracked tooth or implants to replace missing teeth, cosmetic dentistry can help restore your smile and quality of life. As you can see, there are many ways in which cosmetic dentistry can improve your oral health. So if you are considering any type of dental procedure, be sure to ask your dentist about the potential benefits of cosmetic dentistry.

KöR Whitening
Discoloured teeth can be caused by many different lifestyle choices or issues with the teeth. Eating or drinking certain foods that can easily stain teeth, smoking or vaping, certain medications, aging and genetics are all common causes. Discoloured teeth can significantly affect confidence and self-esteem.
KöR Whitening is by far the most consistent and reliable whitening system that we have ever used here at Corner 32 Dental. We are proud and excited to be only one of a handful of clinics offering KöR Whitening in Sydney. It is so powerful that it is even effective for tetracycline-stained teeth!
Everyone deserves a smile they can be proud of and confident in. Would you smile more if your teeth were whiter? If the answer is “yes”, then you owe it to yourself to read on to find out more about the incredible KöR Whitening system…
KöR frequently asked questions
Kor whitening is one of the most popular teeth whitening methods available today. There are many reasons to choose Kor whitening, including its effectiveness, affordability, and convenience.
Kor whitening is an effective way to achieve whiter teeth. Kor uses a system that has been clinically proven to be effective at removing stains and discolouration from teeth. In addition, Kor offers a variety of different whitening gels that can be used to customise your treatment plan and maximise results.
The oxygen from the whitening gel is absorbed deeply into the tooth, dissolving, and removing stain molecules producing unbelievable results. With Kör, the ability of your teeth to absorb oxygen is restored and this is the main reason for its ability to produce such huge smile transformations!
There is almost always a small degree of relapse after whitening treatment has been completed. However, part of the Kör Whitening system is periodic maintenance which means the results are virtually permanent. Everyone receives a personalised easy to follow maintenance schedule that’s recommended for them to keep the result looking the same as it did the day that treatment was finished!
Kör Whitening products have been studied well and do not lead to any permanent damage to the teeth or gums. They are 100% safe to use but are NOT recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Kör Whitening is also gluten free.
In most cases, Kör Whitening produces little to no sensitivity. However, in patients who already have sensitive teeth, the teeth can become slightly more sensitive than usual during whitening treatment. There are many ways to manage this though, including applying Kör desensitiser during treatment as prescribed, the use of desensitising toothpaste, alterations to whitening frequency etc. and should not stop anyone from considering treatment.
Whitening is not recommended before the age of 14 but there are individual factors to consider and therefore should be discussed with your dentist. The younger the teeth are, the quicker and more impressive the whitening results are. On the flip side, there is absolutely no age limit for whitening!
The results with Kör Whitening are dramatic (see the many amazing Before and After photos on our Instagram feed), lightening up to 16 shades or more sometimes. The amount of whitening depends on which whitening protocol is used and your dentist can discuss these options with you to determine which one will suit you best. The amount of whitening depends on which whitening protocol is used and your dentist can discuss these options with you to determine which one will suit you best.
No, never! Teeth whitening as a term is slightly misleading as what is really occurring is that the stains are being lifted from the teeth, so the teeth are actually being lightened (rather than whitened). This means the natural base shade and individual characteristics of your teeth will shine through and the result will always look beautiful and completely natural. Teeth that look very white and fake have usually been restored with veneers (plastic or porcelain facings).
Unfortunately, no. Whitening only works on natural teeth so any fillings, crowns or other dental work will remain the same colour. This might mean these will need to be changed after whitening if they can be seen and are affecting the smile. Likewise, if you need dental work on teeth that are visible when you talk or smile but would prefer your teeth to be whiter, it’s best to whiten your teeth before having your dental work done.
Certain highly pigmented foods and drinks (eg. black coffee/tea, red wine, curries) and lifestyle choices (smoking/vaping) should ideally be avoided or minimised as much as possible during whitening as well as afterwards. If this is not possible, it may take slightly longer to achieve the ideal result and a more intense maintenance protocol will likely be required to maintain the final result.
This will depend on the type of system chosen which will vary between individuals. The most commonly used system at Corner 32 is the Kör Max Whitening system. The process involves taking moulds (or scans) or your top and bottom teeth to make custom-made whitening trays which are very thin and comfortable to wear. The whitening gel is worn inside of these trays overnight, every night, for 2 weeks while sleeping and then there is usually a one-hour in-chair whitening visit at the clinic. You will then be given a maintenance kit to take home and a personalised recommended maintenance schedule.
Tetracycline staining is dark staining embedded within teeth, caused by certain antibiotics taken at a young age, while the adult teeth are still forming. For years we have known that tetracycline stains have been all but impossible to whiten. But why are these stains so resistant? It is because normal tooth darkening is caused by stains being trapped within the microstructure of the teeth whereas these stains are actually bonded strongly to the structure of the teeth themselves.
Although the degree of staining depends on many factors, and results of treatment cannot be guaranteed, it is amazing to now be able to offer a CONSERVATIVE treatment option such as the KöR Ultra-T Whitening System. Once upon a time, the only option for these cases would have been quite expensive and involved the grinding away of healthy tooth structure for porcelain veneers or crowns.
At Corner 32 Dental, we offer both Invisalign and Spark aligners. Invisalign is the most well-known clear aligner system and is very effective. Spark is a newer system which is also producing excellent results. Spark aligners are also clearer, thinner and more stain resistant. Your dentist will discuss both options to find which system will suit you best.
Veneers
Veneers are thin slips of porcelain or composite resin, custom-made to fit exactly over the front surfaces of the teeth. This treatment is very versatile and can be used to correct a number of problems including:
- Closing or minimising spaces in between teeth
- Hiding chips or cracks
- Covering up badly stained teeth that do not respond to whitening
- Straightening up slightly crooked or rotated teeth
- Lengthening worn down teeth
Preparation of teeth requires removal of a small amount of tooth enamel. This procedure is irreversible, however, well-maintained veneers should last several years. Regular dental reviews and hygiene appointments, combined with good home care will help prolong the life of veneers. Often, combining this treatment with other procedures such as tooth whitening and Invisalign will offer the best aesthetic outcome.
Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. They can enhance the colour, shape, size, and alignment of your smile, giving you a natural and confident look.
You may be a good candidate if you have chipped, stained, uneven, or slightly misaligned teeth. During your consultation at Corner 32 Dental, our team will assess your smile, discuss your goals, and recommend whether veneers or an alternative treatment (like aligners or whitening) is best for you.
Yes — when designed properly, veneers look incredibly natural. At Corner 32 Dental, we take a personalised approach, carefully selecting the shape, shade, and proportions to complement your facial features and ensure your smile still looks like you, just enhanced.
The process is generally comfortable. Some patients may experience mild sensitivity during or after tooth preparation, but this is temporary. We prioritise your comfort at every step and will guide you through the entire process so you feel at ease.
With proper care, veneers can last 10–15 years or even longer. Maintaining good oral hygiene, attending regular check-ups, and avoiding habits like biting hard objects will help extend their lifespan.
Porcelain veneers are crafted from high-quality ceramic material that closely mimics the natural translucency and shine of real teeth, providing a highly aesthetic and long-lasting result.
Porcelain veneers are more durable, stain-resistant, and longer-lasting compared to composite veneers. They are custom-made in a lab (or digitally designed), offering superior aesthetics and precision.
Porcelain is highly resistant to staining, which means your veneers will maintain their brightness much better than natural teeth or composite materials.
Because a small amount of enamel is usually removed to prepare the tooth, porcelain veneers are considered a long-term, irreversible treatment.
Composite veneers are made from tooth-coloured resin that is applied and sculpted directly onto your teeth in a single visit to improve shape, colour, and minor alignment.
Composite veneers are more affordable, minimally invasive, and can often be completed in one appointment. They are also easier to repair if chipped.
They typically last 4–8 years, depending on your oral habits and how well they are maintained.
Composite material is more prone to staining compared to porcelain, especially with frequent consumption of coffee, tea, or red wine.
Yes — one of the key benefits is that composite veneers can be easily repaired or adjusted without needing to replace the entire restoration
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is advanced dental technology that allows us to design, create, and place custom ceramic restorations—such as crowns—in a single visit.
CEREC eliminates the need for multiple appointments, temporary crowns, and messy impressions. You can restore your tooth in just one visit with precision and convenience.
Yes — CEREC crowns are made from high-quality ceramic materials that are durable, long-lasting, and designed to withstand normal chewing forces.
Absolutely. We use digital scanning instead of traditional moulds, making the experience faster, cleaner, and more comfortable for patients.
Most CEREC procedures can be completed in a single visit, typically within a few hours, allowing you to leave the clinic with your final restoration on the same day.
